Russian is an East Slavic language mainly spoken in Russia. It is the native language of the Russians and belongs to the Indo-European language family. It is one of four living East Slavic languages, and is also a part of the larger Balto-Slavic languages. Besides Russia itself, Russian is an official language in Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, and is used widely as a lingua franca throughout Ukraine, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and to some extent in the Baltic states. Podgorensky District is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the thirty-two in Voronezh Oblast, Russia. It is located in the southwestern central part of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,579 square kilometers (610 sq mi). Its administrative center is the urban locality of Podgorensky. Population: 23,123 (2021 Census); 27,340 (2010 Census); 29,563 (2002 Census); 31,827 (1989 Census). The population of the administrative center accounts for 24.8% of the district's total population.

Voronezh Oblast is a federal subject of Russia. Its administrative center is the city of Voronezh. Its population was 2,308,792 as of the 2021 Census.
