Sebastian Schindzielorz (born 21 January 1979) is a former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Born in Poland, he represented Germany at U21 youth level and made one appearance for Germany B.

Club career

After being relegated with 1. FC Köln in 2006, Schindzielorz joined Norwegian club Start on a free transfer and was Stig Inge Bjørnebye's first signing as head coach of Start. After playing five matches for Start, Schindzielorz joined the Greek club Levadiakos, before he joined VfL Wolfsburg in 2008. In the 2008–09-season, he played six league-matches when Wolfsburg won the league.[1]

Bjørnebye was appointed assistant manager of Norway in 2003, relinquishing the role three years later to succeed Tom Nordlie as manager of IK Start. He was the sports director of Rosenborg Ballklub from March 2015 until November 2019.

Based in Livadeia, Greece, the club was promoted to the Alpha Ethniki, forerunner of the Super League, after ten seasons in minor divisions in the 2005–06 season, as runner-up of the Football League in 2004–05. It was then relegated to the Beta Ethniki again in 2006–07 and returned to the top tier in 2007–08. VfL Wolfsburg won their first ever Bundesliga title during this season. Manager Felix Magath formed an attacking lineup, which included strikers Edin Džeko and Grafite, the pair scoring 54 goals between them, much due to the help of attacking midfielder Zvjezdan Misimović's 20 assists.

International career

In May 2002, Schindzielorz was called up to the senior Germany squad for a match against Wales, however he remained on the bench and was ultimately never capped at that level.[2]
