Hélio Júnio Nunes de Castro (born 25 April 2000), simply known as Helinho, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for Red Bull Bragantino. Mainly an attacking midfielder, he can also play as a forward.

Club career

Born in Sertãozinho, Helinho entered São Paulo FC's youth ranks in 2012. On 3 May 2018, his contract was extended until April 2023.[3] In April, he was called to the senior team for a league match against Paraná Clube.[4]

On 4 November 2018, Helinho made his first team debut, coming on as a 46th-minute substitute for Anderson Martins and scoring a goal five minutes later in a 2–2 draw against Flamengo.[5][6]

International career

On 6 October 2017, Helinho was called to the Brazil under-17 squad for the Under-17 World Cup as a replacement for the injured Vinícius Júnior.[7] On 23 April 2018, he was called up to the Brazil under-20 team.[8]

The 2018 season was São Paulo's 89th year since the club's existence. Due previous year playing for remaining in first division of national league, the club started his performance at state league, Campeonato Paulista, mistrusted by his own fans and media. The head coach Dorival Júnior was fired after 5 losses in only 14 matches, being defeated by all main rivals in just a month. To replace Dorival, São Paulo selected the Uruguayan Diego Aguirre, a former forward who was in the club for a short period of time in 1990. Despite the elimination in the semifinals of Campeonato Paulista and second round of Copa Sudamericana, Aguirre did a consistent job in the early months leading the team. In the first half of league São Paulo ended in first place holding its performance for 8 rounds at the middle of competition. However a couple of draws and the rise of his rival Palmeiras, took place from São Paulo that dropped down in table 4 positions finishing his participation in 5th. Diego Aguirre was fired in the 33rd round after an away draw against Corinthians by 1-1. For the interim charge André Jardine trained the club in the last 5 matches, he was announced as the head coach for 2019.

São Paulo FC fatally fell in front of Corinthians in the last minute of second half in second match, by a result of 1–2 (Away) after 0–0 in Home. In other championships, São Paulo hadn't similar performance being prematurely eliminated in Copa do Brasil by Bahia by two losses and the painful defeat in the history of Copa Libertadores, in preliminary round by the Argentine club Talleres. Following an unsuccessful season, the only and last "hopeness" for the paulistas has turned into the national league, Série A. The Tricolor kept a regular position in the table between the 4th place and 8th place however constantly changing the head coaches. In overall were four managers, André Jardine, Vagner Mancini, Cuca and Fernando Diniz in the entire year of 2019. Finishing the performance of the season, the club has taken a place in the group stage of Copa Libertadores in 2020, keeping the dream of new international trophies in the next year.
