The Luhansk People's Republic or Lugansk People's Republic is an unrecognised republic of Russia in the occupied parts of eastern Ukraine's Luhansk Oblast, with its capital in Luhansk. The LPR was created by militarily-armed Russian-backed separatists in 2014, and it initially operated as a breakaway state until it was annexed by Russia in 2022.

Rubizhne is a city located in Luhansk Oblast in eastern Ukraine. Situated on the left bank of the Donets river near the cities of Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk, Rubizhne was founded in 1895 and incorporated as a city in 1934.

Lysychansk is a city in the Sievierodonetsk Raion of the Luhansk Oblast in Eastern Ukraine, Donbas. It is located on the high right bank of the Donets river, approximately 115 km from the oblast capital, Luhansk. It faces Sievierodonetsk across the river. Its population prior to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine was approximately 93,340.

Sievierodonetsk is a city in Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine. It is located to the northeast of the left bank of the Siverskyi Donets river and approximately 110 km (68 mi) to the northwest from the administrative center of the oblast, Luhansk. Sievierodonetsk faces neighbouring city Lysychansk across the river. The city, whose name comes from the above-mentioned river, had a population of 99,067, making it then the second most populous city in the oblast. Since June 2022, it has been occupied and administered by Russia.

The Battle of Sievierodonetsk was a military engagement in the wider battle of Donbas of the Eastern Ukraine offensive during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
