The 2023 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began on February 17, 2023. The ongoing regular season will be followed by many conference tournaments and championship series, and the season concludes with the 2023 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2023 Men's College World Series. The Men's College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at Charles Schwab Field Omaha, will end in June 2023.

H. Alvin Brown–C. C. Stroud Field

Brown–Stroud Field is a baseball venue in Natchitoches, Louisiana, United States. It is home to the Northwestern State Demons baseball team of the NCAA Division I Southland Conference. Opened on April 1, 1939, the venue has a capacity of 1,200 spectators. It is named after the first two coaches of the Northwestern State baseball program: C. C. Stroud, who coached from 1912 to 1930, and H. Alvin Brown, who coached from 1949 to 1966. Recently added features include chairback seating, an awning that partially covers seating areas, a turf infield, landscaping, and a sound system. The venue's bleacher seating and dugouts have recently been renovated.

Robert Barbier is an American college baseball coach, currently serving as head coach of the Northwestern State team. He is the son of Darren Barbier, former head coach of the Nicholls State football team. He was named the 2018 Southland Conference Coach of the Year.

Southland Conference

The Southland Conference, abbreviated as SLC, is a collegiate athletic conference which operates in the South Central United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I for all sports; for football, it participates in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Southland sponsors 18 sports, 10 for women and eight for men, and is governed by a presidential Board of Directors and an Advisory Council of athletic and academic administrators. Chris Grant became the Southland's seventh commissioner on April 5, 2022. From 1996 to 2002, for football only, the Southland Conference was known as the Southland Football League.
