The 2023 Incarnate Word Cardinals baseball team represents the University of the Incarnate Word during the 2023 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Cardinals play their home games at Sullivan Field and are led by fourth–year head coach Ryan Shotzberger.[2] They are members of the Southland Conference.

The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is a private, Catholic university with its main campus in San Antonio and Alamo Heights, Texas. The 2023 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began on February 17, 2023. The ongoing regular season will be followed by many conference tournaments and championship series, and the season concludes with the 2023 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2023 Men's College World Series. The Men's College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at Charles Schwab Field Omaha, will end in June 2023.

Sullivan Field is a baseball park located in San Antonio, Texas, United States. It is the home of the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals baseball team of the NCAA Division I Southland Conference. It opened on April 8, 1989 with a 5–2 win over their cross-town rival, the St. Mary's Rattlers. Lights were added before the 2004 season so that night baseball would be possible.

Ryan Shotzberger is an American college baseball coach and former shortstop. He is the head baseball coach at the University of the Incarnate Word. Shotzberger played college baseball at McDaniel College from 2001 to 2004 for coach Dave Seibert. He served as the head assistant at the University of Houston from 2012 to 2019.

Southland Conference

The Southland Conference, abbreviated as SLC, is a collegiate athletic conference which operates in the South Central United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I for all sports; for football, it participates in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Southland sponsors 18 sports, 10 for women and eight for men, and is governed by a presidential Board of Directors and an Advisory Council of athletic and academic administrators. Chris Grant became the Southland's seventh commissioner on April 5, 2022. From 1996 to 2002, for football only, the Southland Conference was known as the Southland Football League.
