Notes:
  1. ^ Originally scheduled to be played on 5 February 2023, the match Atromitos – AEK Athens did not start. The referee, after an appeal from AEK, counted that the crossbars were below the designated limits. The people from Atromitos attempted to fix the issue, but one of the crossbars remained below the designated limits, therefore the match did not start.[3] On 14 February 2023, the court stated that the match will be conducted,[4] while AEK decided to appeal the decision.[5] On 1 March 2023, the appeal was rejected.[6] The match was conducted on 8 March 2023 and ended 0–1 in favour of AEK. On 10 March 2023, after their victory, AEK announced their intention to appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to overturn the initial verdict which declared Atromitos innocent for the lowered crossbars.[7]

A.E.K.–Panathinaikos rivalry

The rivalry between AEK and Panathinaikos is the football local derby in Athens, the capital of Greece between AEK Athens and Panathinaikos.

Double-headed eagles derby

Double-headed eagles derby

The Double-headed eagles derby is a football derby between AEK Athens and PAOK Thessaloniki. Both teams have the same roots, being refugees from Constantinople, after the Greco-Turkish War, the Asia Minor Catastrophe and the population exchange. Both teams use the same emblem, to reminisce the Byzantine Empire, but in different colors. The very first match between the two teams took place in Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium during the final phase of the 1930–31 Panhellenic Championship. The rivalry used to remain on-pitch for several years. However, since the Greek Cup Final of 2017 there is an ongoing, intense and overall exaggeration of the rivalry, further boosted after the championship conquered by AEK in 2018, when PAOK were deducted 3 points by court decision and AEK were given 3pts, which adjudged the title holder.

Positions by round

The table lists the positions of teams after each week of matches. To preserve chronological evolvements, any postponed matches are not included in the round at which they were originally scheduled, but added to the full round they were played immediately afterwards. For example, if a match is scheduled for round 13, but then postponed and played between rounds 16 and 17, it will be added to the standings for round 16.

Derby of the eternal enemies

The derby of the eternal rivals, also called mother of all battles, is a football local derby in the Athens urban area (Athens/Piraeus) between the most successful clubs of Greece, Olympiacos and Panathinaikos. The rivalry between the clubs and their fans is intense, thus this derby has always been a classic for the Greek capital, as well as the whole of Greece, the most prestigious in the country. The derby is traditionally included among the world's top 10 greatest football derbies by the international media, along with rivalries such as Real Madrid–Barcelona, Liverpool–Manchester United and Boca Juniors–River Plate. American network CNN has ranked the Olympiacos–Panathinaikos derby among the ten greatest football rivalries of all-time. In October 2014, BBC named the Olympiacos–Panathinaikos derby as "Europe's maddest derby" and in September 2019, Daily Mirror ranked the derby of the eternal enemies as the fifth most important derby in the world. In 2019, GOAL, one of the biggest football sites in the world had a special article about the Greek derby. The GOAL marked Panathinaikos as the most successful Greek club in Europe and Olympiacos as the most successful club in Greek League.
