On 20 June, the players reported back to pre-season training.[1]

On 2 July, the club announced that manager Darren Moore would miss the first pre-season friendly against Alfreton Town due to recent knee surgery.[2]

Pre-season

On 8 June, Wednesday announced their first pre-season friendly against Harrogate Town before heading off to Portugal for a warm weather training camp.[9][10] On 13 June, the club announced that a Wednesday XI made up of U23 and U18 players will face Wakefield.[11] On 16 June, a friendly against Alfreton Town was announced.[12] Additional friendlies against Wigan Athletic and Rayo Vallecano were announced on 1 July.[13][14] A behind-closed-doors friendly against Bournemouth during their pre-season trip to Portugal was announced on 2 July.[15]

Barnsley Football Club is a professional football club based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England, which compete in EFL League One. Nicknamed "the Tykes", they were founded in 1887 by Reverend Tiverton Preedy and moved into Oakwell stadium the following year. The club's colours were originally blue, but were changed to red and white in 1904. The club's main rivals are fellow Yorkshire clubs Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United and Leeds United, with Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United considered as rivals.
