The 2016 UTSA Roadrunners football team represented the University of Texas at San Antonio in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Roadrunners played their home games at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas and competed in the West Division of Conference USA (C–USA). They were led by first-year head coach Frank Wilson. They finished the season 6–7, 5–3 in C-USA play to finish in second place in the West Division. They were invited to the New Mexico Bowl, the school's first ever bowl game, where they were defeated by New Mexico.

Sponsored by clothing company Gildan Activewear, the game was officially known as the Gildan New Mexico Bowl.

The 2016 New Mexico Lobos football team represented the University of New Mexico during the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Lobos were led by fifth-year head coach Bob Davie. They played their home games at University Stadium and were members of the Mountain Division of the Mountain West Conference. They finished the season 9–4, 6–2 in Mountain West play to win a share of the Mountain Division title with Boise State and Wyoming. After tiebreakers, they did not represent the Mountain Division in the Mountain West Championship Game. They were invited to the New Mexico Bowl where they defeated UTSA.

Schedule

UTSA announced its 2016 football schedule on February 4, 2016. The 2016 schedule consists of 6 home and away games in the regular season. The Roadrunners will host C–USA foes Charlotte, North Texas, Southern Miss, and UTEP, and will travel to Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion, and Rice.[1]

The team will play four non–conference games, two home games against Alabama State from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and Arizona State from the Pac-12 Conference, and two road games which are against the Colorado State Rams from the Mountain West Conference and the Texas A&M Aggies from the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

The Charlotte 49ers football program represents the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in college football. The UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees officially voted to add a football program on November 13, 2008, after a unanimous recommendation by the Football Feasibility Committee. It was made possible by Student Government initiatives starting in 2006 by then-student body president Benjamin Comstock and student body vice president Jordan Van Dyne, namely the first step of organizing a transparent student vote on football that disclosed possible hikes in tuition fees as a result of football. The online poll was approved by the Student Senate and administered in collaboration with the University's IT Department. Despite the possibility of potential rises in student fees, the vote clearly displayed a student interest in a football team. The program began play during the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season.

The North Texas Mean Green football program is the intercollegiate team that represents the University of North Texas in the sport of American football. The Mean Green compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the American Athletic Conference. They are coached by Eric Morris, who was hired as the new head coach of the Mean Green on December 13, 2022. North Texas has produced 24 conference championship titles, with twelve postseason bowl appearances and four appearances in the former I-AA Playoffs. The Mean Green play their home games at the Apogee Stadium which has a seating capacity of 30,850.

KMYS is a television station licensed to Kerrville, Texas, United States, serving the San Antonio area as an affiliate of the digital multicast network Dabl. It is owned by Deerfield Media, which maintains joint sales and shared services agreements (JSA/SSA) with Sinclair Broadcast Group, owner of dual NBC/CW affiliate WOAI-TV and Fox affiliate KABB, for the provision of certain services.
