Season notes

Beginning in the 2014–15 season, the minimum age for senior Grand Prix and senior B events increased from 14 to 15 to match the minimum age for ISU Championship events. Another rule change allows single and pair skaters to use music with lyrics in competition.[1][2][3] Previously, they were restricted to instrumental music, including vocals without words. The ISU Challenger Series, a series of senior internationals below the Grand Prix series, was introduced.[4]

Age eligibility

Skaters competing at the junior level were required to be at least 13 years of age before July 1, 2014. Those who turned 15 before that date were also eligible for all senior-level events.

Date of birth Eligibility[5]: 104–105
Born before July 1, 2001 Eligible for Junior Grand Prix
Born before July 1, 1999 Eligible for all senior events
Born before July 1, 1995 Not eligible for junior events (except male pair skaters and ice dancers)
Born before July 1, 1993 Male pair skaters and ice dancers not eligible for junior events
Rules may not apply to non-ISU events such as national championships

Partnership changes

Some skaters announced the dissolution of a partnership or formation of a new one. Listed are changes involving at least one partner who competed at Worlds, Europeans, Four Continents, Junior Worlds or the senior Grand Prix, or who medaled on the Junior Grand Prix circuit. The ISU does not permit teams to compete for two countries—if skaters of different nationalities team up, they must choose one country to represent.

Courchevel also refers to the towns of Courchevel 1300, Courchevel 1550, Courchevel 1650 (Moriond), and Courchevel 1850, which are named for their altitudes in metres. On 1 January 2017, Saint-Bon-Tarentaise (1100) merged into the new commune Courchevel. The resort centre of Courchevel is at 1,747 metres. The name Courchevel 1850 was chosen for marketing reasons to compete with rival ski resort Val d'Isère. It is the Jardin Alpin area of Courchevel 1850 rather than the centre which is located at 1,850 metres.
